Examples of furniture and restored antiques

We enjoy a wide variety of wood working projects including:

  •      Custom design/build of tables, benches and stools

  •      Cabinet design and construction

  •      Decorative bowls and boxes

  •      Restoration of wood and cane antique furniture

In 2016 I designed several natural coffee and couch tables. This couch table was the first. It is made from ambrosia maple with cherry legs. It is 65 inches long and 16 inches wide and is used for meals and beer during those big screen football games.

Ambrosia Maple Table Design

I liked the couch table so much, I designed and built this matching ambrosia maple coffee table with a slab cut from the same tree. The legs are the first in my new series of tree legs, made from cherry.

Natural Cedar Bench

For a Washington DC client we made a cedar bench with modern steel legs. The bench is 15 inches by 6 feet with a hand rubbed poly finish.

The Elf Stool

I've never seen anything like it!! So we designed it and built it for our family kitchen. The wood tree back is removable and can be used as a serving tray or a fan on those hot days. The Elf foot rest swivels down. The stool is make from walnut we milled in our shop. This creation was lot's of fun to design and build!

Ambrosia Maple Coffee Table

Several years ago I bought 5 matching slab of walnut from a mill in White Hall MD. I've made many pieces of furniture from them. Because this was my last slab I decided to design a functional piece of art. The top is walnut 22 inches by 65 inches. The coffee tables legs are made from cherry, mahogany and poplar. The toy trucks I designed and built for the grandkids!

Walnut Coffee Table
Walnut Dining Table

For our Boston client we designed a 43 inch square table that opened to to over 7 feet. The walunt used was rough sawn and had been stored in a barn for years. We milled the lumber, created the design based on a antique pattern and created the table including the turned legs.

Wood Bowls

Although we have a lathe that could to turn wood bowls we choose to design them then cut them on the scroll saw. Typically we use one 8 inch by 8 inch board and cut circles at a angle then stack and glue them together. There is very little wasted wood and many exciting patterns can be created. The dark bowl is rosewood. I found out that I'm allergic to rosewood the hard way. There will not be any more rosewood in my shop!

Walnut & Maple Serving Table

For a Baltimore client we designed a walnut and maple serving table. The bottom shelve is removable and can be used as a serving tray.

Maple and Cherry Tables
Maple Pantry

We designed and built a pantry cabinet for a neighbor using cabinet parts they had saved from other places. The completed cabinet has 8 pull out drarers and two storage units at the bottom.

Walnut and Oak Table

This walnut table was a oak accent in the center of the top. The legs are all walnut with the sap wood providing the lighter leg color.

Caned Rocking Ghair

This caned rocker is one of many we have rebuilt over the years. Most have arrived with broken cane and broken wood seats. This chair was taken apart, broken parts replaced and caned.

We created two matching maple and cherry end tables for a Baltimore client. The top has a cherry accent one inch from the edge and cherry drawer fronts.

Broken Oak Chair leg
Maple and Cherry Table

Maple and cherry were used to build this end table. The curly maple is a nice contrast to the straight grained cherry.

This photo was taken while work was in progress for the replacement of a oak chair leg. The oak selected was from our "Old Oak"wood inventory to match the remaining oak legs.
